Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated School Bus Mechanic who is also willing to serve as a driver when needed. This dual-role position requires a strong mechanical aptitude for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining school buses, as well as the ability to operate a school bus safely and effectively. The ideal candidate will ensure that all vehicles are in excellent working condition while also providing safe transportation for students.
Key Responsibilities:
Mechanic Duties:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on school buses including; engine, transmission, brakes, and electrical systems.
- Conduct thorough inspections to identify mechanical issues and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical problems using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and inspections.
- Collaborate with other mechanics and staff to prioritize repairs and maintenance schedules.
- Stay current with industry standards and best practices for bus maintenance and safety.
- Operate school buses as company needs, while ensuring the safe and timely transportation of students.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training in automotive or diesel mechanics preferred.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a passenger and SB endorsement.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
